Here are the top attractions in the city.

NIGHT LIFE

Green Lady Lounge

An absolute must-see for any Kansas City local or visitors, the Green Lady Lounge is known for its gorgeous ambiance and jazz music, making you feel as if you just dipped your toe into yesteryear. With a long legacy of jazz musicians in the area, such as trailblazer saxophonist Charlie Parker, this beloved jazz club stands as almost a love letter to the city’s rich history. Grab an original cocktail, lean back in your velvet chair and let the sweet notes of trumpets wash over you.

Casual Animal Brewing

Casual Animal Brewing is a craft brewery that embodies the laid-back, creative spirit of Kansas City. It is perfect for craft beer lovers who enjoy sampling unique brews in a more casual setting. The brewery offers a rotating selection of beers, each with its own distinct flavor profile, making it a great spot for those looking to unwind after a long day with fellow beer aficionados.

KC Wineworks

KC Wineworks, operational since 2014, features a wide variety of red and white wines, as well as selected or customizable tastings and flights. The grapes-to-glass production of this essential Crossroads Arts District stop is the first-ever in the area, and thanks to their commitment to sourcing their grapes from Missouri vineyards, their wines are award winning and absolutely delicious. Whether you’re buying by the bottle or just grabbing a quick glass with friends, KC Wineworks is the place to be.

Power & Light District

The Power & Light District is the beating heart of Kansas City’s nightlife, offering fantastic food, vibrant scenery and bustling entertainment areas. This entertainment district provides one-of-a-kind hot spots like Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint, McFadden’s and Johnny’s Tavern, all perfect places to drink and dine, while Mosaic, Shark Bar and Howl At The Moon offer diverse options for traditional night clubs and bars.

Sinkers Lounge

The meeting of mini golf tees and gin martinis; what could be better than that? Sinkers Lounge is the place to be for anyone who wants to hit the greens while grabbing an adult beverage downtown. Whether you opt for tabletop golf or the nine mini golf holes, make sure to browse their punny menu while enjoying the cocktails and courses.

Tom’s Town

A beloved structure of Kansas City’s downtown, Tom’s Town is as filled with liquor as it is with legacy. Named after an influential and infamous icon of the area, Tom Pendergast, Tom’s Town allows visitors to tour the 110-year-old distillery, educating you through the process, and taste their signature spirits. Order a bourbon, gin, vodka or canned cocktails to truly understand the taste of KC.

DINING

Golden Ox

A favorite of many United Country folks, the Golden Ox is the birthplace of Kansas City strip steak and the oldest steakhouse in the city. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the historic Live Stock Exchange and was originally a place for ranchers and farmers to eat after bringing their livestock to the stockyards. Their extensive menu has many mouth-watering items, such as skirt steaks, Midwest Angus meat and bacon wrapped tenderloins. Such a place as this will make a vegetarian change their ways.

The Ship

Come aboard the nautically-inclined lounge called The Ship. Started shortly after the Prohibition repeal in 1935, many of the original interiors and treasures have been maintained or recreated, creating an antique deep-sea ambiance unlike anywhere else. The elevated bar food, specialty and seasonal cocktails and live performances are great for those looking to sail through a breezy and entertaining evening while out at sea. (Note: this location is not actually at sea.)

Blue Sushi Sake Grill

Blue Sushi Sake Grill is a fantastic favorite for satiating your sushi cravings. An undeniably enchanting ambiance fills the room, supported by the colorful Japanese lanterns and finely-designed dining areas. Their precise and plentiful menu allows you to dig into many of your favorite eastern dishes. Start your meal with a comforting bowl of miso soup or the bolder mango crab rangoon before sharing (or not sharing) the California roll or something more adventurous.

BRGR Kitchen + Bar

BRGR Kitchen + Bar is found within the Power & Light district and specializes in gourmet burgers, serving up a more modern take on the American classic. The menu features utterly unique and simple standard burger types along with craft beers and cocktails for the perfect casual dining experience. Stop by between 3-6pm to take advantage of their criminally convenient happy hour, offering $3 beers and an array of specialty cocktails and snacks.

Lula Southern Cookhouse

The southern hospitality and heat that Lula Southern Cookhouse brings is a most welcome addition to the Kansas City culture. The food is inspired by the chef’s North Carolina heritage, naming the restaurant after his own grandmother, and consists of staples of the southland such as shrimp and grits, Mississippi pot roast, fried green tomatoes and so many more mouth-watering must-haves. Visit for brunch, lunch, supper or even for a few southern-styled drinks.

Manny’s Mexican Restaurant

If you find yourself craving some authentic Mexican food, then head over to Manny’s, an integral part of the Kansas City flavor. A family-owned business that has been in operation for nearly 50 years, the restaurant exploded seven times the size in just a few years. The large menu offers a wide variety of south-of-the-border favorites, but the true gem of the eatery is their one-of-a-kind margarita that bursts with unique flavors.

Messenger Coffee Co. + Ibis Bakery

Messenger Coffee Co. was created in the last decade and has quickly become a staple for coffee lovers in the downtown area. Three local coffee companies combined their passions and established a brand that was committed to high quality roasts and building relationships with vendors and customers. With an ever-evolving flavor profile of coffee beans and the incredible Ibis Bakery, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better smelling or refreshing stop in downtown Kansas City.

Bizz & Weezy

A true mom-and-pop shop, Bizz & Weezy is a locally-owned haven for chocolate and caramel lovers. Not only are all their treats delectable, but the confections are so artfully designed, it is clear that the owners prioritize taste along with perfection. From turtle clusters and marshmallow bark to tropical truffles and caramels crafted from local distilleries, anyone can find sweets to steal your heart. Try out their extensive breakfast and lunch menus and full-service café while you’re visiting as well!

Get To Know KC

Union Station

Union Station provides a monumental silhouette against the Kansas City skyline. Positioned in the center of downtown, the Union Station is a testament to the city’s legacy, filled with historical artifacts, as well as a hub of transportation. Designed in the architectural style that was popular around the time it was built in the 1910s, the Beaux-Arts style, the massive columns and grand windows evoke Neoclassical and Baroque imagery. Come to Union Station to appreciate history and culture at its many exhibits or try out one of the fine-dining restaurants inside.

River Market

The River Market is as old as Kansas City itself, and is a neighborhood that takes up much of the Missouri River frontage. After more than a century of development, today it stands as a vibrant neighborhood, filled with one-of-a-kind eateries, renowned dessert shops and weekly farmer’s markets where locals sell fresh produce, voluptuous bouquets and hand-crafted jewelry. Roam through the vendors’ stands hand-in-hand with your loved ones for a charming weekend morning.

National WWI Museum & Memorial

Pay your respects to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms at the National WWI Museum & Memorial overlooking downtown. Holding some of the most critical historical moments of Kansas City history, tour through the exhibits that tell the untold stories of peace and war in this time period. The Liberty Memorial Tower offers an open-air observation deck that requires an elevator ride and several stairs to reach, but the panoramic views make the trek undeniably worth it.

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

For those looking for a family-friendly and enriching excursion that doesn’t break the bank, then plan a visit to the incomparable Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This organization prioritizes diverse collections and public enjoyment of art, opting for free admission for all. As you stroll through the exhibits, you can be sure to find something from every time period from all around the world, offering both contemporary and historical art sections. Enjoying your lunch in the café will make you feel as if you’ve entered your favorite fantastical world.

Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium

Kansas City’s most prized possession, the Kansas City Chiefs, unfortunately won’t be in season during our Convention this year, but don’t let that stop you from taking a trip to the Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Needless to say, all natives and transplants to the city are supremely proud of this team, led by the record-breaking Patrick Mahomes, as well as the charismatic and tenacious Travis Kelce and our (unofficially) elected first lady of KC, Taylor Swift. Who knows? Maybe by the 2025 Convention, this stadium will be home to the first-ever three-time consecutively winning Super Bowl champions –Go Chiefs!

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

See a show while you’re visiting at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. An astonishing addition to the Kansas City skyline, the concert hall sits at the cross-section of popular downtown areas like Crossroads, the art district, and West Bottoms, the antique neighborhood of old KC. During your stay, you can purchase a ticket for the Ballet Folklórico de México, Czech National Symphony or up-and-comer Cody Fry with the Kansas City Symphony.
